Artist's Description

I’ll admit that everybody isn’t fond of vultures, but I rather like them. African vultures have extraordinary vision and can find carrion miles away. They clean up the carcasses and keep the plains free of disease.

This fellow was partying with Lappet-faced and white-backed vultures over some pretty bare bones when a spotted hyaena thought to join the festivities. About half of the conveined vultures arrayed themselves in a very purposeful half circle between the hyaena and the remains, shielding the rest of the vulture party from the marauding hyaena.
