The Hyaena(Crocuta crucata) is one of the fiercest of Africa predators. It has the strongest bite force of any land mammal and is respected by all other predators. It regularly runs lions and leopard from their kills and enjoys the spoils. The hyaena normally hunts in packs of a half dozen to several dozen members. Related to neither canines or felines, this species is most closely related to, of all things, the mongoose.

Social structure in a hyaena pack is forever, Alpha females offspring are also alphas until they die, Omega females offspring can never rise above their bottom of the pack status—there is no upward mobility at any level in the pack.

But despite their hated reputation and generally ugly appearance, there are some times when they look almost cute. This one did.
