Artist's Description

Yes, this was taken in the wild, in the Ngorogoro Conservation Area of Tanzania. This cub, one of three, was left in a dense, leafy thicket while their mother went hunting. When the tourists drove up, the other two cubs stayed well hidden, protected by the foliage from our prying eyes and cameras. Not this bold one, he/she marched right out to a clear spot and climbed up on this branch to get a good look at us outlanders. After a few minutes the little cub decided we weren’t really interesting, so it ambled back into the bushes. Our guide estimated that the cub was about 3 months old. Panthera leo
