It took all the magnification of my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ12 (about 300mm) to get close enough to the ruins to appreciate them. Then it took some cropping and pixel additions to get a picture big enough to make it worth looking at. Then by layering the picture over a nice autumn maple leaf, the richness of color and texture in the rock walls overcame a bit of pixelation.
And finally I have a picture worth printing as a memory of the last trip to Indian country with my hubby.
Canyon de Chelly, a National Monument, is unique among National Park service units, as it is comprised entirely of Navajo Tribal Trust Land that remains home to the canyon community. NPS works in partnership with the Navajo Nation to manage park resources and sustain the living Navajo community.

Thanks. I think I have to go back. I didn’t make the most of my first visit.
