52 Inches and still falling

Living high in the Colorado Rockies was magical. On occasion, it was also heck of a lot of work. This snow is the one that drove us to move down from 7700 feet.

This is our seasonal neighbor’s cabin. We were farther down the lane. It took me a week with a big two-stage snow blower to clear a blower wide path from the house to the street. That was the single largest storm we experienced in 12 years in the Poudre Canyon west of Fort Collins.

As winter approaches, I can’t say I’m sorry to be living in Arizona. 278 views

It’s 82 degrees here in New England, and the AC has already been put away :D I needed this beautiful image so much :))) I want to love there :D

  • Linda Sparks replied

What a hoot. I’ve dredged it out of low, low pixel hell (3rd circle) and added it for a Challenge. I like looking at it, but I’m through shoveling the stuff. Glad you enjoyed it. And thanks for commenting.

A struggle against the elements. No Rays Famous Pizza delivery. No turning up the gas furnace. If you were diligent and cut enough firewood, you will have a semblance of warmth. A wooden rocker drawn close to the fireplace, an old blanket for added comfort. A great book read in the glow of an oil lamp. Heaven.

  • Linda Sparks replied

Yep, that was me for 12 years. We heated with wood, did have electricty, but were 60 miles from a town.

How beautiful this is. Hard to imagine that it is snowing already, even in the mountains. This is such a beautiful setting.

  • Linda Sparks replied

Thanks so much. I think it did snow in the high country this week, but this shot is from 1992.

This is gorgeous, Linda. I’ll bet your neighbor would love to have this photo. We, too, came from where winters were nasty and we’re so glad that the snow we now see is on the mountains across our valley where we don’t have to shovel.

  • Linda Sparks replied

Thanks, Linda. I’m thinking I’ll get the card and send it to her at Christmas. We may have to play with it. I still see pixels.

    A beautiful capture.
We do not get snow where I live ,
I wish we did,I believe if we did I would go back to my 2nd childhood real quick to play .LOL.xxx

  • Linda Sparks replied

And after a few snow balls and snow angels, you’d have to shovel.

  • Brandie1

    Brandie1

    Oh Linda.
I would be still in my glory just standing there & watching Ray (husband ) shovel.
    He would be sad though.

  • Linda Sparks replied

Lucky you. My hubby could only do limited shoveling, especially at that altitude.

Wow … I love the look of snow but dont know that I could live in it thou…

  • Linda Sparks replied

In all those preceeding years, snow had only been a nuisance. This was such a major dump it simply brought life to a standstill, not only up the mountain where we were, but in town as well. They had no service for 3 days down there.

Gorgeous shot, Linda…but that is way too much snow! Down here in Pueblo West we have very mild winters…and the mountains are less than an hour away.
