Artist's Description

The tree stood alone and whispered to me
I have something to show you; come and see
I drew near and upon the water I saw
The memories the tree had collected as it grew tall
Children played upon the shore
Throwing rocks to see whose skipped more
Couples kissed; one proposed
How their story ends, Lord only knows
A man fishing
A woman crying
A deer drinking
A bird dying
Many years had come and gone
All the while this tree had longed
For another to stand with it and never leave
But all they heard was the rustle of a tree
So pay attention to the wind
You might just hear the cry for a friend
Then plant a seed, and plant one more
So when the first grows
It won’t have to stand alone
