This photo is part of a project called “sense of place,” the idea was to represent the beauty in the ugly, worn down areas of Newcastle.
This particular shot is close to my heart. I spotted this worn out bench one night, and that’s when the idea for the project came together. It just seemed so lonely, so out of place and neglected, perched in a mud filled lot, against an old cement wall.
I didn’t have a tripod with me that day, and the shot was taken at dusk, which meant kneeling in the mud to get enough light.
This photo is in it’s original state.
