While traveling through northern Scotland, we ended up on a small country road outside of Banff. I’d hoped to get a good look at (and nice photographs of) snowy sheep grazing on hillsides. I was not prepared for Highland Cattle! I’d seen photos before, but I was still amazed by the size and visual impact of all that hair and, of course, those amazing horns! Friends assured me that they are gentle creatures and I’m sure that’s perfectly true, but I was NOT going to find out for myself. I used my zoom.
They are wonderful looking creatures, there are a few here in one paddock that I discovered, great shot of them.
Thanks, Marilyn. I would have liked to get a clean shot of the standing animal without those on the ground, but I certainly wasn’t going to interrupt them! :) So you have these in your area? It was my first experience seeing them.
There is only three or so in a paddock near a winery, that is probably the only ones in Australia, they are not common here. I have always enjoyed seeing those old prints with them in the scenery so it was a big surprise to see them live.
