Sacred Sites
A paper sculpture of The Hermannsburg Mission church out of the text of Albert Namitjira’s biography in a book on Australian Art.
One ‘sacred site’ is the Church – the other is Namitjira’s Arrente country. Although the painting is done in an European style – taught to him within the mission church – he was painting significant, spiritual sites.
Continuing my series of paper sculptures out of books.

amazing how the spirit can draw someone back to where they belong, I cant imagine what Albert felt but being free to paint but bound to the spot his stood. I like your interpretation.
