Kate drove with as much due car her rattled senses afforded her.
“Our Pearls’ been going on few dinner dates with some really hot men lately Teddy, better get your dining mojo happening soon mate”
Kate’s words to Teddy hung in the air jostling with neon annoyance.
Teddy didn’t like Kate.
Teddy rather disliked her with a hard boiled intent.
So Pearl was lying when she said she had been visiting family, working late, organizing a hen’s night for her niece.
She’d been washing her hair in the scent of hot blokes.
He’d had other women in his life that moved him in the opposite direction of true attraction by their trill voices and vacuous forced femininity. Pearl glided across his senses and robbed him of his equilibrium, he loved the induced fall from control.
What was the point now, Pearl had lost her shine and he skidded on disappointment.
Pearl was cold and angry and a lot things in her mind throbbed, an emotional hernia.
A car pulled up, a brown family man’s sedan and a woman’s voice peered at her.
“You ok love? Wanna lift?”
Pearl summarized with ultra speed that she could if this woman had a cell phone i ring Kate and reroute to meet closer to home.
“Umm Hi. Do you have phone? I’d like to call my friend to meet me….you see I live right on the other side of town…and if you could drop me a bit closer….well that would be so good”
The woman’s face beamed yes and yes.
Kate listened to Pearl’s proposal to meet at Hamper’s Mall which as luck had now decided to mozy in was where Pearl’s kindly new friend lived near.
Teddy wanted to ring Kate and tell her about how he planned and plotted a dining lesson for Pearl, a hurtful jealous childish plan where she’d be sorry for being liar and then maybe he could revive his pure feelings again for her.
Pearl felt better about her evening for the first time, her lioness purred out everyday nuances to her new driver.
“So I’m Pearl”.
" It’s better you don’t know my name" came the flat reply.
