If not for some people who come into our world we might have remained suspended in the longest pause in between waiting and living.
I think we are bridges crossing over each other leaving our journeys in each other.
Goodbyes a beginning on one side and endings depending on which view you have carried with you.
We build bridges and sometimes walk to the opposite sides to wave at each other from time to time.
And to turn our back for the bridge we cross next can not look back.
I know I have left pieces of me on bridges that I no longer walk and I regret not what I left behind.
It may have made another bridge stronger, it may have shown an understanding about a strength in their character.
It may have made someone see that they can be brave even when tears wash footprints away.
It may have taught a lesson.
It may just be useless information.
If you walk to my bridge and there’s a detour sign please take that sign down, I sometimes put them up when I get the notions I should be under deconstruction.
Bridges can be torn down but they can be built again, even burnt bridges should have a second chance if the builder is truly ready to repair.
I’ll be a sturdy bridge for those that show respect for my foundations.
I would like to meet you someday in the middle of a bridge built for you and me.© K S Hardy 2010
