thinking disguised her beauty

Younger less tired in her living skin
before days of folding many clothes
cooking and cleaning for her young
soothing the needs of her man
Her body had always been sublime
though she felt heavy petals without scent
More beautiful than ever in her unaware
           thinking
that her feminine lines no match
for the movie stars and models of the scene
she feared to find love in her ugly frame

A false image created in trusting lies
her body not worthy or good enough
spoon fed by the world’s sex sells dollar signs
          disguised
in shy slouches and bold talk
she robbed herself of her youthful walk

As years brought new trends and attitudes
older and more tired than ever
she sees the woman she has always been
           her
body reclaimed in the truth of age
A little sad she had to grow older
before this revelation spoke louder
          beauty
that her body did always show
was the heart that was always willing to grow
No more caught in the shallow web of how we look
this is the blessing of seeing and truly loving self

Feelings and words fall on to the page
Sometimes they bite back
Sometimes they tug on our sleeve
Sometimes they have a cheeky grin
They stay once a page has found them
Words are faithful to us even in the dark

    This is a blessing!

  • Hi Mel
Blessings that I wish some of the youth I see of late would somehow understand….the copycat dress code is just filling the pockets of fat cats…and children trying to be grown up is a crime of stealing their childhood…..OK had my little sermon. Amen..xx

    amen my darling heart,

brilliant piece – a must read by all…

it is not easy that is for sure
and we have good days and bad ones
when we hate the skin we are in
but the balance becomes more evident as we do age…

    love you xox

  • Our skin can feel different some days when we might compare ….. there will always be ruler to work out the additions and subtractions me thinks..
At the end of the day we all equal up to wanting the best from life….xxxx

For those who fear time and growing old… it is inevitable. The trick is not aging but aging gracefully, loving yourself and accepting that your body not only wrinkles but it writes each experience of life on the skin. Time should not be feared. This is brilliant, Tempest.

  • Hi
and thank you so kindly for your really encouraging words and such a compliment from a talented writer as yourself… :))

real truth, a sad thought, be nice if those who scrutinise thier image in the mirror could view themselves from the eyes of those who like them for what they are. well put miss
