He remembered their first embrace like it was toasting marshmallows on a camp fire on a freezing night. Her memory of this was a delicious shiver tying her in knots and squeezing her taking her breath away.

“Come sit under the Frangipani tree and we’ll wrap ourselves in the blossom’s scent.” he said. These were his scented promises to her in the beginning.
Then time revealed the truth of him and his thin papery promises began to die, curling up and dropping stale at her feet. Crusts scattered the pathways resembling crosses marking the moment of death.

There was a time he hugged her and butterflies would kiss her cheek.
The butterflies flew away and her prince became the frog he really was and left a slimy frog tattoo on her princess heart. He turned out to be just full of his own croaking and nothing more.

Beautiful, seducutive beginning… poignant end. Perhaps life is just full of cycles and certain people are meant to be part of that cycle – to come and go.

  • ArcadiaTempest replied

I so agree…..it is hard when one has more hope for it to be the special relationship and the other is only using it to make themselves feel special. Best to avoid these slimy critters me thinks. :>)

  • ArcadiaTempest replied

Hi…this little write jumped into my thoughts when I saw the challenge – Frog tattoo . It was actually something in my drafts that I had penned a while ago just waiting for something to give it life and a green frog along. Such is the magic of writing….I am trying to keep all my incidental writings down as I find that they sometimes form the beginnings of a verse. Thanks for stopping by and for being such a wonderful support. XXXXX

This is great work. I love the beginning, but then I also love your end. The beginning was kind of soulful and emotional, but the ending was more little down to earth. This took a lot of imagination. Iris
