Her memory of this was a delicious shiver tying her in knots and squeezing her taking her breath away.
“Come sit under the Frangipani tree and we’ll wrap ourselves in the blossom’s scent.” he said. These were his scented promises to her in the beginning.
Then time revealed the truth of him and his thin papery promises began to die, curling up and dropping stale at her feet. Crusts scattered the pathways resembling crosses marking the moment of death.
There was a time he hugged her and butterflies would kiss her cheek.
The butterflies flew away and her prince became the frog he really was and left a slimy frog tattoo on her princess heart. He turned out to be just full of his own croaking and nothing more.

very Nicely written KarenSue, I love the way you used the “frog tattoo” and the imagery in “Crusts scattered the pathways resembling crosses marking the moment of death.”

Helloooo….yep too many frogs, not enough princesses to kiss them into decent frogs ;)) XX Well maybe they should just say frogs and stay in their ponds me thinks ;>)

Beautiful, seducutive beginning… poignant end. Perhaps life is just full of cycles and certain people are meant to be part of that cycle – to come and go.
ArcadiaTempest replied
I so agree…..it is hard when one has more hope for it to be the special relationship and the other is only using it to make themselves feel special. Best to avoid these slimy critters me thinks. :>)

Brilliant work, Arcadia! Genius! Absolutely love the poetic flow of this in particular: “Come sit under the Frangipani tree and we’ll wrap ourselves in the blossom’s scent.” Great read from start to finish!

Hi Helen….I have had to restrain myself from saying Croak and Nee-dip….in replying but ooops I just let a few out then.. I just see the frogs of the world ending up in a slimy pond so I figure it works out ok in the end… ;)))

wow, KarenSue, what an amazing writer you are. So full of imagery and the story true. This is so incredibley written. XX

Hi…this little write jumped into my thoughts when I saw the challenge – Frog tattoo . It was actually something in my drafts that I had penned a while ago just waiting for something to give it life and a green frog along. Such is the magic of writing….I am trying to keep all my incidental writings down as I find that they sometimes form the beginnings of a verse. Thanks for stopping by and for being such a wonderful support. XXXXX
ZoeMcduncan
It’s horrible when the prince turns out to be a frog!!!!
ArcadiaTempest replied
Yeh but they usually reveal themselves in their croaking….. :)) Thanks for stopping by, cheers to U!

This is great work. I love the beginning, but then I also love your end. The beginning was kind of soulful and emotional, but the ending was more little down to earth. This took a lot of imagination. Iris
ArcadiaTempest replied
Hi Iris, your thoughtful comment is so appreciated. So very nice to see you here as well . :)))

sorry, meant a little more down to earth.
