SONG TO THE MOON, sung in Czech by Renee Fleming
Mouse drawn and painted in photoshop 5.5. Windows ’98 platform.
This is my attempt in working in a style I have always loved , Art Nouveau. The master of this style was Mucha. I used one of his many paintings of Sarah Bernhardt, the actress, as a starting point. I have completely redrawn, and added my own interpretation. I hope I captured the drama of a great ‘Diva’ in the style of my idol, Alphonse Mucha.
So rich and gorgeous! I love the colors, the profile and the richness of this whole image.
Thank you Bunny, especially for mentioning the profile, I completely redrew it and put the famous ‘Streisand’ hook in the nose. It wasn’t hard to do, Sarah Bernhardt has it too. I guess it’s the sign of a strong woman.
Very beautiful, Norval, I remember discovering Mucha while still at the Art Institute, and for years I practiced those stylish curves and ornamental details of the master of Art Nouveau. Did you know he designed household objects, furniture, even some architecture? I like the enameled copper effect you used too. Did you survive the cold spell OK?
Thanks Syd, I studied him too, everything I could find. And what I really appreciated these artist were a jack of all trades, they designed it all. This piece of artwork was my answer to this weather—————— 20 below———aweful. But I survived.
