He’s gorgeous, love the depth of field. But he’s not really a lab rat…is he?? (She asks with trepidation! ;) )

mmm let’s just say this mouse is endearing both for his cuteness and for his contribution to the development of a vaccine against HIV. Humane and ethical care is ensured by following the Australian code of practice for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes 7th edition 2004. Hope this eases any concerns :)

Well, sort of, yes and no… I absolutely appreciate the need for some animal use in the development of vital vaccines… but I basically am just a big sooky wuss and lapsed vegetarian (guilt worse than a lapsed catholic, in my opinion!) who prefers to stick her head in the sand! i.e. animals do not kill each other to eat, steaks do not come from sweet old moo cows, and no animals are ever harmed for my needs. In other words I am delusional!
