this portrait was taken on my birthday, march 2008.

it represents a paradigm shift in my life, on every level…physical, spiritual, emotional and more…

the lighting was provided by early morning natural sunlight coming in via the bedroom window, whilst i was hanging half in, and half out the window, whilst also trying not to drop my camera out the window!

i have always loved high contrast in b&w, though if you look behind my head, you’ll see some straight lines on the ceiling, which appear softened and barely there; providing added interest and perspective, in contrast to the lines and finish on my face & body.

although i normally prefer to be behind the camera, when i am in the mood, i also can be comfortable playing ‘the subject’.
