The Road To Sanity

The Road To Sanity

i have been trying to work on more postive paintings …..but it seems the more postive I go the wose I feel…..kinda like someone rubbing your face in their happiness when you are feeling down ….

so sometimes getting that little bit of crazy out makes me feel a whole lot better….

Makes a lot of sense to me, what you wrote… forced normality/smile/brightness can get suffocating, can cheer you up for a while, but must be balanced with letting the other stuff inside some space and outlet, otherwise it grows into a volcano… well, I am talking only about me;-)

  • April Mansilla replied

i competely understand …...yes and no one wants to be at the end of the volcano:) right? xx

If you have become stuck in a particular way of thinking and looking at the world, it takes a lot of effort to break out of that. The average human mind is very lazy – it digs itself a comfortable rut and follows it around and around until eventually the rut becomes a grave.
Persist. And listen to lots of Emo Phillips.

  • April Mansilla replied

    wise words ..thank you Gregory

and its a good thing I am not average then;)he he

without the shit the good stuff would be boring – you’ve got to have the contrast, the balance, the amplify the other like complimentry colours!
This artwork is beautiful April! Its not easy to incorporate words into paintings, you’ve done it well – they really belong! xxx

  • April Mansilla replied

thank you Miss Hughes;) xxxxx I always appreciate you sweet words!!!

Magnificent April. Wow this is powerful and so beautiful dear April. Sadness now is part of our happiness then and our Happiness now is part of our sadness then. It is so important to acknowledge and honour our shadows and our darker (sadness, anger, pain, etc) feelings as much as it is important to bask and celebrate in our happiness. This piece touches me so deeply. I am so moved by your artistry and true expression of your feelings. Thank you. Anthea xxxx

  • April Mansilla replied

thank you Anthea! your words and the emotion that flows from them is always so touching ….so many thanksxxxx

Painting it out makes perfect sense to me, – just another way to ‘express/vent’ as it were – and if the result is a powerful image all the better – we ALL feel better when we vent no matter what form it takes – legal that is- lol

  • April Mansilla replied

so true thank you Vincent for the comment ..yep i will stick to legal for now LOL

  • Kim Grace

    Kim Grace

Perfect sense to me as well, I agree with Vincent, I use painting to keep me busy, to go to a happy place where nothing can harm me and where i am concentrating so much that the hours fly by…i can see the road to sanity from madness is a long and winding one, paved with all you have written…it is a good road to travel, April, there is light at the end of it…in the other direction there is only a dark tunnel
Your work is pure heart :)

  • April Mansilla replied

thank you so much Kim for the thoughtful comment …I appreciated that so much!

April, I believe your paintings are positive and beautiful creations from within. Though I probably should comment more often (am a little lazy in the comment department) it is always exciting to see your new works, works that flow naturally, without restriction. There is a feeling of passion, belief in Your composition and expression through colour and lines. Your art is Your art , This is a beautiful piece of art :)

  • April Mansilla replied

wow Peter what a amazing compliment …..thank you so very much for all of that:)!!!!!

to offer friendship to someone who burns for love is like to offer bread to someone who is thirsty…

i learnt that quote yesterday, just wanted to share it with you for unknown reason

  • April Mansilla replied

Hi Clarie …. I messed this I am so sorry it didn’t come on my page

thank you for the quote …i needed that:)

I think those who have seen fortune and misfortune can express the most dramatic of compositions. Your images have that element of communicating the hidden drama of the soul that is an easily wounded and not easily repaired.

I really appreciate this site where I’ve “communicated” with not just the image but the human being behind the image. It is just what a fellow artist was looking for.

  • April Mansilla replied

thank you so much for this comment! when i know someone gets what i paint and fels it that means so mych and I appreciate all you wrote

I agree with so much that’s been said above, so won’t repeat it now, April.

I’m just wondering though if maybe you’re Dorian Gray? If his portrait hadn’t shown the ravages of age, then he would have no choice but to wear it himself. Without your painted outlets would you have to bear the brunt of that which you’ve managed to channel elsewhere?

  • April Mansilla replied

what an amazing comment Ken ….and to answers i think yes ….beause i have been down the other road where i nothing to channel and it ate at me …..these works are my sanity …

that was just such a fabulous comment!!!xxx
