this was my jekel and hyde work so to speak …the monster in one half of the face ..almost meating and deformed …..and the other half just trying to let go
i stopped trying to run from what i am …no matter how much i try this dark is always going to be here ….and as many people see it as a moster that has made me depressed suicidal …make bad choices …it is that ugliness …that drives me to paint ….even beauty
some things long after we let them go are still there the scars fade on us but the look in the eye remains

very powerful… again. And yes, it’s that tormenting monster inside that makes this powerful art possible, even necessary. Bliss may get some other kind of work done, but I suspect it just makes you sit in the sun and smile happily ever after… not bad in itself, but no source for masterpieces, either.
April Mansilla replied
thank you Gili …...everything you wrote so true….love to you xxx
