April Koehler

I am a photographer in the small town of McGregor, Minnesota. I love reading, watching movies, listening to music, looking at art, hiking, camping, and spending time with my husband and our dog. My passion, however, is photography. In 2009, I bought my DSLR and taught myself digital photography through books and the internet. I started out with a 365 day self portrait project where I had to take a photo of myself every day for a year. After that was done, I did a 365 project where I could take a photo of anything I wanted every day for a year. Both projects were difficult, strenuous, exciting, and fun. I learned so much about photography and about myself. I learned that my favorite subject matter is nature and that photography is not only my passion, but my therapy. I feel my best when I’m outdoors and making not just photographs, but art.
