‘I don’t know, but they did it. They’ve done it before and they did it tonight and they’ll do it again and when they do it – seems that only children weep. Good night.’ “Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird”
Open to interpretation – I’d love to hear what you think, and see if i got across the point i was trying to.. The reference photo was taken by frixen on DeviantART (www.frixen.deviantart.com)
Thank you so much, though i feel that i should point out, ‘Mockingbird’ is not a part of the ‘Ascendancy’ series… its just a random drawing that i wanted to do. Still, thank you for the comment
This is beautiful April.. Every single time you upload something new, you show the rest of the world and I, how staggeringly talented you are. You have… the most beautiful eye for tone. You put so much depth into your shadows and lights that it all just lifts off the page. And mixed with an obsession for detail (lol) you make even boring pleats look so interesting! The perfect texture of silk…the little hairs on her eyebrows and the crisp black O of her lips… Random…but they were the things that my eye kept floating back to..
I can’t wait to see these pieces in real life and all of what they’ve taught you in college.
Thank you Niall. you know you won’t see this piece though – it was commissioned, remember? and i’m officially putting the others up for sale now too… hopefully i’ll start something new now though. i miss charcoal.
my uni pieces are terrible, lol! i cannot paint to save my life… its awful :S can’t wait to start drawing…
thank you! and thank you so much for the fav, i really appreciate it!

Gorgeous in a haunting way. Beautiful work and I do get the message, the comparisons from the days of Atticus to now….and they will still do it again and again. The folds in the fabric are so soft and delicate. Another stunning piece of work.
Thank you. i was unsure if i was getting the message across – it is a little bit vague. i also really wanted to emphasize.. the beauty of culture, i supose, and contrast it with how people are treated. To Kill A Mockingbird has always been one of my favourite books, particularly because of how many different emotions i felt during it, and i wanted to get that kind of… variety, into this.
