I went down to the cemetary today in hopes of getting some good pics. With Memorial Day so close there are lots of wonderful flowers and flags everywhere.
As I was walking around I came across this scene. The beautiful flowers caught my eye first, then as I approached I saw the pink ribbon… I knew that the one there had been a victim of breast cancer. I’d been trying to avoid having names in my images so this was going to be perfect. After taking the pictures, I walked closer and looked down at the name; it was someone I had known. She had a son that was the same age as my boy. In fact, she probably was fairyl close to my own age.
A reminder, the gravestones & markers that I was walking amongst were, at one time, real people. Mothers, Fathers, Sons, Daughters… people who had families, who went to football games, who lived and breathed just like you and I. I know that it seems as if I’m stating the obvious but it just really struck close to my heart. NOt only did I know this person but I also have a grandmother that lost the battle with breast cancer. I never knew her. Usually, she feels distant but today she feels close.
Thank-you for remembering with me.
