I was playing around with this image for a competition that need to be in B&W and came up with this. Not in B&W but I really liked the softness and toning of it.

who is that cute little girl?

  • Unfortunately, I don’t know. She was just one of many in the tulip fields that day. I should have talked to her mom but I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to that type of thing, although I’m getting better. I really regret not having talked to them, maybe gotten their e-mail so I could have shared this shot with them. Oh well, live & learn! :-)

    Toning is excellent!

  • Thank-you! It’s actually a Lightroom preset modified slightly, so I can’t take too much credit! :-) but I liked it!

Lovely mono. While the full colour was all about the colour contrasts. This one is all about her wonderful expression. I love how that a little toning has completely changed the focus of the pic.

  • Thank-you Vikram! That was something that I discovered when I tried to change it over to B&W, was that the colors were a part of what made the picture good. I didn’t care too much for the complete B&W but this added just a bit of color and as you have pointed out (which to be honest, I didn’t really notice!) the focus is more on her expression! You have been one of the faithful that has not only encouraged but has really helped me learn – thanks so much!!!

Beautiful and a bit nostalgic – It looks a ’60s picture that has faded in the sun. I can imagine her being all grown up now and a mum of her own, looking back through her childhood album. Well done Ann!

  • What wonderful imagery – thanks, George!!
