I’m trying to figure out how to get higher resolution images. I think where I may be making my mistake is when I export my pics out of Lightroom. There’s a spot where you can choose how many pixels per inch, right now I have it set at 720. Does anyone know how high that can be set? or how you determine what number to put in there?
I take all of my pics in RAW format and upload them directly to Lightroom. Whenever I upload pics onto RedBubble the largest print anyone can purchase is a small print – (12 × 8), I know there must be something different I need to do to have larger prints available.
Any help you can give would be most appreciated!

Ann – is it set to 72 dpi or 720 dpi?
The standard for magazine quality print is 300 dpi. You can get away without any issue at all at about 270 dpi.
Here’s a pretty detailed article on print sizes: http://www.bythom.com/printsizes.htm

Sounds like I must be doing something else wrong then. I have it set at 720 but only because something I read made me think that might be better. If there was a default, I don’t remember what it was, it probably was 300. I read the article but I’m still not sure what I’m doing wrong. I have to admit, I don’t fully understand it all either.
Maybe I’m not “nailing my exposure”, or maybe my “poor shot discipline” is factoring in more than I thought. I didn’t think I was doing that bad though.
Typically it doesn’t make too much difference but some of my pics are being used for a football program and I want to make sure that they get good pics from them.

I am not sure about Lightroom as this is an application that I am not as familiar with, but need to be for teaching purpose in the near future. I do however know how to alter it in Photoshop CS and higher in order to get a larger image/pixelation. If you have photoshop, here is what you do. Open your image up in PS, then along the top bar where you have FILE and EDIT, click and open the drop file IMAGE, then select image size. The window will open and you will see the box marked Resolution. It should have 72 in as default. If you change that to 110 and certainly no more that 115, this will make your image bigger without losing quality or causing distortion. Now save the image. See if that works.

I don’t have Photoshop CS only Elements and I don’t use that very much. I will look around and see if there’s anything similar in Lightroom, haven’t found anything yet though. Thanks, Shawn, I appreciate your help!!

when you open your file in camera raw…there is a link accross the bottom of the window…click on it…make sure it is set to your cameras megapixel…I am assuming lightroom uses camera raw…hopefully this is what you are looking for…

Thanks Beve, but unfortunately Lightroom doesn’t use camera raw. It actually doesn’t change it out of raw until you you export, if I understand it correctly. But thanks so much for the help!!
