Maybe I should title this – The Power of God – because truly, it is only by His power that little Asher is as healthy as he is today. Yet, God gives us the privilege of being able to pray, to communicate with Him, to ask, to plead, to thank, and to praise. He doesn’t need us. He did not need our prayers to heal Asher, yet how totally awesome is it that He leads us to pray for healing, for comfort, for strength and then He answers those prayers!
Asher and his twin sister, Shiloh, were miracles in just their births. Their parents were starting to come to the conclusion that maybe they were not able to have children. I was in a small Bible study at the time with their mom (my sister-in-law), and one other gal. Along with studying His Word, we shared our struggles and joys with each other and we prayed!
Imagine the joy and amazement, when my sister-in-law informed us that she was expecting! Imagine my awe when, only a few weeks later, she called and told me that she was expecting twins! TWINS!! God is good and He has a sense of humor!
We prayed and thanked and praised God!!
My sister-in-law had a healthy pregnancy; everything went well. She was able to carry the twins up to what they considered full term (for twins). One of the last ultrasounds they did, to see how things were progressing, revealed some fluid buildup around the boy’s lungs but not too worrisome. It was decided though, that they would go down to a larger hospital to deliver, for safety.
When the time came, they headed south, about 1.5 hr. away, along with friends and relatives. No way were we going to miss this! It took a while but eventually there they were, two beautiful babies – Shiloh and Asher. Praise God!
Within a couple of days, they were home. Within a week of being home, Asher was being airlifted back down south to a different hosptital, barely able to breath. On the way into town for a Dr. appt., Asher had started turning blue from a lack of oxygen. I can’t imagine the emotions that my sister-in-law went thru! They pulled him out of his carseat, alongside the road and he pinked up again. They continued on to the Dr. Once there, after explaining what had happened, they quickly took him in, checked his oxygen and called an ambulance. At the hospital, it was quickly determined that something was seriously wrong; he was going to have to be airlifted to a different hospital that had the equipment and specialist that could help.
At the hospital, what was to become his new home for the next 3 mo., they discovered that little Asher had fluid surrounding and compressing his lungs. They drained a huge amount of fluid off, it was amazing that he was able to breath as well as he had been!
Through out the next few months, Asher and his family went thru many ups and downs. Prayers went up, from people all over, including many here from RedBubble (thank-you!). After weeks of having only IV for nutrients, of having pic lines, x-rays, medicines, shots, and even a broken arm at long last Asher was able to come home!
Asher has now been home for awhile. After finally being done with the needed formula which upset his stomach so much he often couldn’t keep it down; he is now gaining weight nomally.

I just wanted to do one last journal and include these pics. Look how far God has brought little Asher! I know much of this is repetitive of previous postings but I wanted to do a final start to finish, beginning and end, so to speak. I’m sure I will be uploading more pics as they (Asher and his twin sister) grow older but I think we’ve come to the end of an era in their little lives. Praise God! Hopefully, from now on, they will live and grow without any extra drama.
Thank-you all!

My thoughts were with you and your family during those difficult times, so glad there was a happy ending.

We had trials with our twin boys birth also. But look at what God has done on my website. They are Two years old. Enjoy them. They are a blessing!
Appel:
Yes, God is powerful! The whole family is enjoying these two blessings, even more so after what they’ve been thru!
