We visited a Masai village in Kenya. This poor man was wandering around, very troubled. Some of the people in our group implied scornfully that he was drunk. When I asked about him I was told that he had mental difficulties and the rest of the tribe looked after him. He seemed so upset, it was sad. And sad too for people to automatically jump to the conclusion that he was drunk…

A mask like face, the eyes have stopped seeing. It’s a wonderful portrait and very touching.

What a great shot. It is so sad how “Good” people are so damn quck to judge and dismiss others. Instead of embracing and understanding. They seem to be the same kind of folks that follow the idiot Bush!

A piece of photo journalism aswell Jane. I have never seen a brow so furrowed, stunning shot. It is also very interesting to read the back story, Mental illness touches almost everyone in one way or another. I have seen that same blank expression on faces many times on my travels, mostly in London, but in other cities aswell.
