This is Benito. He is a western lowland gorilla and lives at the Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon. He was very curious and was so close I couldn’t get all his face in the picture!
Born approx.: April 1996. The youngest of the three males, Benito arrived at Limbe with Emma (please see The Look and Gorilla Touch) and spent his first months there in the constant care of his human caregivers, who selflessly gave him 24 hour care and attention.

Oh beautiful beautiful Benito. He looks so much like Emma [perhaps they came from the same family]. From what I remember of him, he is a fiesty young male, always up to his antics. He had a bit of a row of Chella while I was there – but did he learn from it – no way, not Benny.
