This is a female chimpanzee who is currently in quarentine at Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon. I had the privilege of looking after her in December. She was separated from the other chimps because she was nursing her little baby. Though she also had the company of another nursing mother.
Most of the animals had been rescued from the illegal pet and bushmeat trade in Cameroon.
Just look at the intelligence and recognition and need to communicate in her eyes…
Looking at this Jane, I would initially say – so sad, however, I know how the primates are cared for here, and that this female is in the best place for the moment with a young baby to care for. Hopefully she will be intergrated into the LWC chimp group soon :)
Yes Jul, it looks sad, but yes they are cared for here. She was so lovely and she trusted me with her little baby:)
Brilliant capture! So much emotion in those eyes! I love how you framed her eyes with the bars! Congrats on ImageWriting feature, a really interesting story…
