Love

A mother chimpanzee cradles her baby as it suckles. A beautiful scene which I was very honoured to experience at close quarters in Cameroon.

Thsi is stunning Jane. Chimps are my favorite of all the primates, it is that hooligan, temperamental nature of theirs that sets them aside from the rest for me – and you have just wiped out every single thought I had of their wicked, and lovingly fiendish nature with this one tender moment – Love love love this.

Do we love them… because they look like human beings with their ways of showing care and love or it is reverse wae… that’s it… we know all these behabiours due to them….?

Hi Jane, Its the skill of the photographer to get all the relevent parts of animal in shot on a crop shot like this:
the comparison of the sizes of mothers head to babys head, mothers hands to babys hands,
mothers huge arms and the little clenched cheeks of baby. We can imagine the eyes of mother being full of care and love.
