Taken with my new macro lens and Nikon D50; I have been on African safaris and hiked through the swamps of Borneo, but this lens is opening up my eyes to a whole new world right in my own back garden, right at my feet. It’s not easy, trying to focus on small objects with a heavy lens, trying not to breathe, but it’s worth it!

    Hi Sheila, yup, am absolutely thrilled to bits with this particular shot, I thoroughly recommend getting a macro lens. Just when you think it’s a dull day, there’s nothing to photograph, well actually there is … right at your feet and it’s amazing. I always thought you had to live somewhere exotic to get great insect shots, but I am learning fast that that is not necessarily so…

    Fantastic shot and exciting to see. I hope you’ll be able to do a series of the life cycle.These are the size of a grain of rice? This is an amazing macro. I love caterpillars, and the butterfly stage isn’t so bad either ;).
