I feel like this image is talking to me…as a person who was born and grown within this culture I started recalling so many incidences I encountered in my past life and even lyrics of some songs…Can you remember “Bomaluwe mal suwadta nehewee” [Sanath Nandasiri’s song- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDGwr_ovJ-Y ]… that’s why I always believe an artist can touch people’s heart so easily. Appreciate you share those photos with us…Very well done ..Anuja.

I had to come back and write more, I just can’t stop looking at it…this photo is full of everything…just look at the bag….and the thread lock in the wrist doesn’t it show the simplicity of life style…and the way holding hands and the fingers absolutely wonderful…lighting in this photo is great…thanks again for sharing this excellent work….[Now I need to drink a cup of tea and get back to work :)]

  • Anuja Manchana... replied

Yes Naleen, I can certainly remember that song. Lyrics of that song is so powerful, it is one of the few songs of Sanath Nandasiri that I like (perhaps, in addition ‘De-dunnen ena samalune’ and ‘Yashodhara’).

I am not sure if you noticed, this is actually a novice nun (a female). In any event, I too wondered if she possessed anything other than what she already had in her shopping bag. I think the correct ‘technical term’ to use in this respect is ‘alpechchathawa’.

By the way, thanks for all the comments you left.
