Te Anau Dusk

Dusk over Lake Te Anau in the Fiordland National Park in South Island NZ. Lake Te Anau, formed by glacial erosion, is the largest lake in South Island (and the second largest in NZ, Lake Taupo in NOrth Island being the largest) is fed by Clinton and Eglinton rivers.

The meaning of Te Anau (or Te Ana-au) in local Maori tongue means ‘cave of the swirling water’, a specific reference to caves on the western shore.

Shot in May 2007 from Highway 94 near Te Anau township (population ca. 1800).
