The Lightstation

Cape Otway Lightstation. Located on the edge of Otway National Park and built with sandstone, this lightstation came to operation in 1848 to guide ships through Bass Strait. When it was decommissioned in 1994 (to be replaced by a low powered solar light), it was believed to be the longest serving lightstation in Australia.

Thanks for all the comments. Half of the credit should in fact go to the newly painted fence and the gloomy sky, which didn’t open up until I returned to my vehicle.
