a cloak of words

I’m fine
is a cloak of words
I proudly wore the badge
announcing
my ghetto fear of the junkyard
what does a dictionary definition
mean to you?
the credit that loans every seed the life
that doesn’t make sense
minute by minute?
someone else just answered for you
someone privelidged made the promise
decent steady and full of stuff
you can’t even get a job now
I keep giving them away
but they just come back in the mail
*

I hate my job
and say so
because it is so hard
to do
for most of you
*

on the other hand
my Calling
juggles itself
with the other hand
holding a gadget
*

listen to the solo
a tenor sax with mocha breath
Paolo crooning through a straw in milk
snares bounce the chords back and forth
it’s a ball
everything is smooth again
you can’t lose again
wonderfully smooth again
as good luck
gliding gracefully
across the killing floor
in new shoes
*

I thought you might say
that your judgmentalism
is part of the job
a charade you play
that puts bread and butter
in your belly
but you defend the indefensible
in all its absolutist regalia
which surprized me
again and again
why?
whenever I am left questioning
I am thankful
whenever I end cursing
I am left regretful
*

people
I apologise
for annoying you
with my spewing
dumping
my monologues
of misery and amazement on you
I now realize that no one can take more
than an hour
of me
at most
without wishing to get back to automatic pilot
as if all that was said was of little value
in normalsville at least
now I am wondering do I tether the monkey mouthed
mastidon in the room, and keep it tongue tied outside?
or do I sell it for dream in a box with an empty fortune cookie?
why stop? what could happen? who would notice?
how would it change the course of my life?
we will now take this chatterbox
and force him to listen to himself
day and night until it drives him madly into silence
all this chattah doznt mattah…
doncha no
*

yes strife rhymes with
life
but what if
they were dancing partners?
