This is a woodcut. The imagery was created by burning the woodblock on an old stove top with ring elements.
I inked it with DS Relief Black #79 ink, and printed it on Hosho Lightweight Japanese handmade printmaking paper. I used a bamboo baren to print it rather than an etching press.

Lovely print. The patterns you created with this technique are really beautiful.

I love the complexity in this seemingly simple print! It’s a tangled web we weave…

wonderful work! I bet the actual piece is even more beautiful :)

  • thank you very much Aileen. Yes the textures of the original woodcuts is sensuous… gritty…
I made one other print in the Rings series that was so pale and luminous it seemed done with pencil and a light touch… but that was accidental! I gave it away, and it is the only print I have given away I wish I hadn’t. so it goes.

The outcome of this print is made even more novel via the mean’s by wich it was created, such a natural feel.
