This is a miniature Mezzotint engraving on copper. The plate it was engraved on is 1"x 2.5"
It was exhibited in England in a printmaking competition. I used Daniel Smith Intense Black etching ink on Lana Gravure, french printmaking paper.

Wow-small but oh so powerful! Love to know (or see) how you framed this work.
    Well done.

  • Thanks Y~ Mezzotint engraving is typically a miniature medium. It is work intensive to prepare the ground on the copper plate, so they tend to be small… and most of the printmaking venues for them are constrained by miniature formats. I consider them a challange like Haiku poetry… trying to say a lot in as few lines as possible, or in this case, as much content in a small space as possible. I simply mat the prints, for a small frame ~ usually in the 8×10″ range… the extra mat sets off the image nicely. ~A

  • Thank you. I was so glad to find this group… I am trying to organize a group (here in Washington state) of artists, social workers, scientists, activists…etc. for a Collation for Socially Conscious Art.
I often wonder why there is a paucity of such art These Days!
    thanks again. Anthony

Not sure “feature” concept suits with a group inspired by philosophy
    but
we’re happy to show your work as a clever illustration of what a thought can be….

thanks you belong to our little special group

  • Yes I agree. And many thanks for hosting this “little special group”. (ps. as a digression: do you know about Dr Jason J Campbell? on Youtube? he is offering a lot of Free philosophy lectures primarily on Critical Thinking and Power relationships. Peace to you~ Anthony
