Jim Phillips
You really caught the warmth in this lady’s expression. Well done.
Anastasia Zabr... replied
thank you very much, Jim! Glad to hear from you!

Great portrait Anastasia.
Anastasia Zabr... replied
thank you, Andrea, very kind of you! your portrait of Frida is wonderful – a real likeness and I like the way you preserve a somewhat van goghian style of strokes even in the drawing!
andrea verstegen
I like to preserve the ‘drawing ’ feel in my pencil portraits, retain the pencil marks etc, because I would hate to ‘reproduce’ a photograph. Similarly, this portrait retains the likeness and character of the person involved, with a distinctly hand drawn effect, which I like.
Anastasia Zabr... replied
i totally concue with you, Andrea! the beauty of a drawing is in the strokes, id leave the smooth ones to photography…........
andrea verstegen
amen to that.
Fred Smilde
a very wonderful portait- there always seems to be a basic duality bubbling under the surface in your portarits – each continues to branch out exploring its nature- in the process they shift, change, etc etc yet always fundamentally there-
Anastasia Zabr... replied
thanks, fred. this one is quite oldish – drew it in march.
