Hey Claire, thank you for your kind comment honey. You are right they are gorgeous birds (ducks) but I don’t know whether you get them over there in Australia or not. I believe, but I am not too sure they come from China and they are called Mandarin Ducks and this beauty is the male of the species. The female has lovely markings but is quite plain if you compare her to her partner but she seems very loyal to him and was following him everywhere he went. There were two pairs swimming about on the lake when I shot this. Oh by the way I am sending a couple over to you, LOL

Hey Susan, thanks for your lovely comment. I was trying something out when I was shooting which I read in my latest camera magazine as I keep getting a lot of my shots blurred or out of focus. One of the things they suggested was if you are shooting with a zoom lens of say 300mm then just to double the shutter speed to stop camera shake so make it 1/600 plus. So I took the shot without a tripod this time (I didn’t have it with me) although it would have helped even better but I used a very fast shutter speed.
NIKON D60 DSLR, F-stop f/4.8, Exposure time 1/640 sec, ISO speed 800, Focal length 180 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens, and Shutter Priority. x
