La Jolla’s Windansea shack is, to many people I know, not only an icon of the community, but also of surfing’s culture and history. Many of the worlds best surfers have relaxed under this same shack after a surf and talked story. On this early rainy September morning in 2005 I sat in the bed of my truck and shot for about an hour under the camper shell. There were a couple people underneath the shack listening to Bob Marley and enjoying the storm.
