A woman in a bright orange dress looks out over the backwaters in Kerala, India.
That is a banana tree she is standing next to. Not only is it’s fruit delicious and sweet (much better than the crappy bananas we get in Melbourne), but the large leaves are used as plates for eating spicy ‘thali’ throughout Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
I would like to have framed this a little differently, but it was taken from a moving boat, and only seen at the last second.
Love it! Those white spots seems like it could be birds she’s looking at. Love the dramatic foreground, accentuate the lovely orange dress…. ummm orange is my favourite colour, ovely orange, not lovely dress ;-)
very nice capture Anthony, I can’t believe how sharp it is being taken from a moving boat. You can certainly make your own story out of this…and nothing wrong with this framing

It’s a great photo Anthony, such wonderful light… And my mouth is watering at the thought of Thalis – yum!
a beautiful image, she seems deep in contemplation….wonder if she would ever get glimpses of our world, the way we just have of hers… thank you Anthony….
I love the bright orange against the surrounding greens. The distant birds are nice too, that she is viewing. The way her hands are positioned adds to the photo interest. Thanks for sharing the knowledge about the leaves and bananas. That is very interesting. I have never seen a banana tree. Smiles from Jane:-)
how well you did to take this from a moving boat…. we used to grow banana trees at Tottenham (western NSW) and Port Macquarie (at the watchhouse/local luckup keepers residence)…..and we have many photos of me under the banana trees…..i find this image takes me right into it…… i’m really drawn to it, wonderful wonderful work!

I reckon the framing is spot on! The hands exude such calm – a brilliant capture indeed

The framing is great Ant. It really tells a story too. Fantastic shot!
