If I show you my wounds,
will you show me yours?
Then will our connection be
deep enough for our healing to begin?

Will you look at my scars and kiss
them and see they are a symbol
that I have lived and not
pass judgement on them?

If I reveal my vulnerability to you
will you hold me in your warmth
and let me cry without walking away,
overwhelmed by my tears of truth?

Will you face the fear of revelation
and expose the shade, the light
and not be afraid to embrace
the not so pretty parts of who we are?

There is nothing more beautiful then
to be free to reveal true self to another.
Divinity and expression of two
inner children that speak and are heard.

Such bone warmth to know that
the other loves you not only for
what you give them but for your
imperfections, for you.

A conversation
A dream
A yearning
A never ending dance of Heart & Soul
is what this love provides.

To let our exquisite masks
crack and fall to the ground
exposing the imperfect
radiant light from beneath.

To honour our mental and
physical wounds and let them
breathe and be seen
rather then be covered by brittle bravado.

To expose our heart to a greater love
and not be afraid of condemnation
from mean eyes
that fail to look within and know self.

To break down gently in the
knowledge that the barriers need
to be removed before our
truths can be told…
There is beauty in this breakdown.

To not be afraid to create our
own steps and to venture out on a
road that is not travelled often…
the road of active honesty.

It is our imperfection, our weakness,
our humanity that makes us beautiful,
not our struggle towards a cover of perfection
that cannot be sustained and is not real.

…and Shakespeare said it so fine…

Above All, Unto Thine Own Self Be True

Wounded Heart and Wounded is the Seventeenth upload in our 22/22 (paintings/drawings/poems) Collaboration Sensitivity & Sensuality.

Collaborating with Reynaldo, a beautiful man and magnificent artist and gifted painter on our third major collaboration Sensitivity & Sensuality is indeed a great joy for me.

Drawing: Rey
Poem: Anthea

Creating art and writing is like breathing to me, it keeps me alive. If I stop creating my world shrinks and contracts. When I start to create again it expands and is filled with colour. I feel whole. To create is to be completely, unabashedly alive.

oh, bravo, a million times. :) My man, Shakespeare – the all time, allknowing universe unto himself, god-man. yes.
    this is perfect.
but O’ what a tangled web we weave…those webs are hard to escape from once caught…my healing has only just begun, so thank you… perhaps one day I shall be able to love all of me, not-so-nice and all, and bare them with trust.
    scars run so very deep.

  • Yeh Shakespeare…what knowing and wisdom he possessed. sesheshet thank you for this gorgeous sensitive sharing comment. Yes scars run so very deep and it does take courage to share our wounds with others. But it is when we do that we can find true intimacy and connection based on our self truth. Your words are so honest and so meaningful to me. Thank you so much for writing these words.
