Love that is always just out of reach
He knows he is beautiful but
is not sure yet what to do with that.
A longing for the eternal
When two hearts, souls and minds collide
There is nothing to hide…but sex.
Skin love is messy earthy
Sweat bodies entangled
Imperfect, raw, primal
Rips us apart or it can make us soar
Breaks our souls to pieces
It is nuanced, more than light and shade
Exposing our foibles our weakness
Unrequited love is ideal, lofty
Like a long blissful stroll in a Parisian park,
a swim in zesty blue Sydney ocean,
an eagle flying high in Vancouver mountain,
a moon above the Melbourne skyline.
It is tempered, zealous, high minded
Appealing always to our inner spirit.
Skin love is bombastic, lusty
It can catapult us from dreams to pain
in one swoop.
Twists our insides to knots in anticipation
then make us scream with the delights of release
And when it leaves it can ache with unbearable hurt.
Unrequited love is filled with constant hunger
with that longing for that beautiful soul
we can see but we can’t touch…ouch.
It is filled with yearning, craving
Turning from swooning to obsessing to addiction.
Doctor, doctor give me the verdict
I got you are under my skin
and etched inside my mind.
Skin love burns red
It urges the juices to weep
Into the realm of expression.
There is edge
There is liquid desire
Emotion at its extreme
Uncovering the essence of lust
Taking control of the moment
Removing clothing is a must
Emotions exploding
Surging like waves of dark passion
Urging through us under the
Charcoal moon
Sun shoots daggers as the heaven
No longer has control.
Unrequited love amplifies our vulnerability
And takes us to roads less travelled
Makes us wait and begin to smoulder
with repressed passion
Frustrating with longing to fill the void.
Unrequited love inspires poetry
and works of art.
Sometimes removed and detached and distant
but there is risk of raw.
Just a perpetual wanting to touch your chest
And to hear the sensuality of heartbeat
and to open roses to full bloom under the
glow of the blue moon.
Skin love burns
Bursts the body open
Beats the mind into silence
Expands the heart muscle
Collapses the ego
Penetrates barriers
Eradicates inhibition
Silences the inner critique
if only for the time of orgasm.
Unrequited love fills us with Melancholy
Keeps us holy and walks in time with morality.
It overlays our primitive urges with sweetness
No freedom of the stomach
only a controlling of the body
and living from the mind
Takes us deeply into ourselves then
away from ourselves into the mystery of another.
Skin love places us brutally in the moment
It is zen – happens in real time
Urges us to reveal ourselves
Naked…Nude..
Unclothed, uncensored….exposed!
Unrequited love covers us with colour
with notions of perfection
With sunlight and days…it takes away fault lines
It fills us with fantasy projection and
another rose coloured version of reality.
We look but only see what we want to.
Skin love demands that those rose coloured
glasses fall off to see the real, the worn,
the rawness in the harsh light of day
There is no lens, no filter –
No more modern or postmodern or scientific perspective.
It demands that we see reality
even if it does not translate
Skin love demands courage
and there is no where to hide.
Unrequited love allows us to hide
To be mystery
To be secret
To reveal only what we want to
There are lens, filters, masks, there are dreams
There is safety and security in our imagination.
Skin love we are forced to see.
It is a call to action of the soul
A moment of truth of emotional intelligence
A poignant second when we see with clarity.
Unrequited love stops us
Skin love starts us
Unrequited love sanitises us
Skin love makes us primal
Unrequited love is of the mind
Skin love is of the body
Unrequited love controls
Skin love makes us go out of control
Unrequited love conceals us
Skin love feels us
Unrequited love is mystery
Skin love is exposure
Unrequited love is clean
Skin love is earthy
Unrequited love reaches for the heavens
Skin love makes live in the dirt
Unrequited love is a golden heart
Skin love is of the earth
Unrequited love asks questions
Skin love answers the questions
Ah the eternal question
Break the bars of mind so that we can fly
Free like love birds sitting on a wire in a universal dance
Unrequited love makes us reflect
Skin love makes us dance with wild abandon
Unrequited love gets the imagination moving
Skin love gets the body, mind and soul connected
Unrequited love is integrated
Skin love is fragmented
Unrequited is pieces of love
Skin love is sensual.
Skin is Yang, Unrequited is Yin.
Together.

I started it just before a lomi lomi massage and finished it directly after. Your connection to my work is such a joy my friend Renate. Thank you so very much.

‘skin love primal’
‘skin love feels us’....
awesome Anthea oxo
I think maybe
the balance is knowing to
define in realistic application, ever mindful of
what love is. Better the yearning hunger than a disastrous illusion.
Romantic ideal attracts. Real intimacy bonds and glues.
Anthea Slade replied
Oh Del thank you for your wise and beautiful words. Your comments are such a delight to read and absorb and you always make me think and feel. Your heart is so beautiful.
lacewren
Confused. I thought unrequited love was unrequired love. Sufi prayer, God break my heart, that I may grow a better one. Teacher, you’re a grand saleswoman. Sign me up for the course.
Anthea Slade replied
Sorry to confuse Lace. It is a debate that was intended to stimulate thinking and response. Your response is an absolute delight. A saleswoman, a teacher…you have just picked my last two careers? But above and beyond these two…artist and writer is my dream job :):) When I develop a course I will let you know lol.
