Passion

Chase the emotion
around my heart
until it crystallises
A butterfly landing
on an open flower
Beauty upon beauty
My eyes water
and flood my face.

Building a fascination
into an obsession
Feed each word until
it etches on my heart
a blood tattoo more
red then black
that cuts across my eye.

A hunger that
pervades my essence
A yearning that cannot be categorised
A passion that cannot be rationalised
A feeling from the core that only intensifies

Annihilate alienation
Celebrate fascination
Imbibe motivation
Right to the core of the matter
to the the nuance of heart beat
Subtle sensations that climax
to bliss and beyond
A kiss like honey dew
and so strong
makes my stomach ache
with undying emotion.

A knowing that cannot be spoken
A love that cannot be broken
A fascination that burns
Flames that fire the soul
with the deep sensual flame
Tormenting the heart
Longing to embrace and engage another

Raw…it aches…
Skin on Skin
Heart on Heart
Matter doesn’t mind
When the heart is seduced
Look that sees the blood breathe
Touch that feels the pain
To reveal or to hide
the flame.

It’s sooooo hot
Flame to sweat
Spontaneous and welling
Dance of soul
Music of mind
Drama of heart
It is complete
when enraptured, intoxicated
and feed by longing
It is so hot it is wet…
exploding the boundaries of desire.

Removing the restraints of thought
And venturing where words cannot go…
To the very heart, the heat
the pain and the utter bliss
of passion.

Passion is utter bliss as you say, and thought is restrained during love making, as it would be with a narcotic. Your poem is at once passionate, filled with desire, and a celebration of our capacity to feel such intense emotion, Anthea. Beautiful and honest!

  • Anthea Slade replied

Oh David thank you so much for your stunning comment. What you have written is perfect and I am nodding my head in agreement with what you have written. Am happy that you find my poem beautiful and honest. Your words mean so much to me.

“until it crystallises”....should have guessed…..you’d think we’d know by now.

You’d think we’d know that what was to follow those three words was not just some bland description, some faltering attempt to convey meekly in the voice of a mouse that which should be left for a lion to roar.

    Well roared that woman.

An inspired and inspiring work that doesn’t just describe passion in such recognisable and explicit detail, but embodies it in energy and intent.

This is a marvelous work that should be committed to music, but only if the music can leave the listener gasping and flushed, as this beautiful prose does.

  • Anthea Slade replied

Wow Ken your words written as response to Passion are poetry in themselves. What an extraordinary and beautiful response to my poem Passion. Do you think I could commit my poem passion to music? I have always believed that music takes us places words cannot go…it is a wonderful idea. Oh am almost speechless in response to your beautiful response…I want to say thank you so much for writing this…it is extraordinary!

  • Vasile Stan

    Vasile Stan

You are yet to be discovered Anthea… but this requires full exposure which you so candidly just did… Deep is this essence of love, a passion that feeds into itself, devouring and insatiable, burning and intense as the soul that generated it and the heart that translates it into such feelings of raw desire and hunger for more.

Good poetry, just like music is an explicit expression of the soul. Poetry must be read out loud, but only in one’s mind, where the mental sounds bounce off the walls of the soul reverberating in finer and finer nuances, a never dying echo that brings one into a resonant state of heart. This is what I feel your poetry does. You always express yourself so eloquently beautiful Anthea.

  • Anthea Slade replied

Vasile your words are absolutely divine. You express with such grace and beauty the subtext and intuitive understanding of my poem Passion. It is as if you have climbed inside the essence of my words to what lies beneath the surface and are commenting on my work from from the inside out. Your deep and intense understanding of my work is breathtakingly beautiful and I almost lose my breath.

Oh I love so many of the words you have written…a passion that feeds into itself, devouring and insatiable, burning and intense as the soul that generated it and the heart that translated…good poetry, just like music is an explicit expression of the soul. Vasile your comment is poetry and so intensely beautiful to my eyes. I just want to say thank you so much for writing these magnificent words I am so deeply and profoundly moved and happy Vasile.
