Black Swan is the 10th of my Top 10 Movies Series

Natalie Portman gives a performance of her lifetime as Nina, a talented but dangerously unstable ballerina on the verge of stardom. Pushed to breaking point by her driven artistic director (Vincent Cassel) and the threat posed by a seductive rival dancer (Mila Kunis), Nina’s grip on reality starts to slip away. As the pressure builds Nina’s all-consuming obssession spins out of control, plunging her into a nightmare that will threaten not only her sanity but her life.

Creating art and writing is like breathing to me, it keeps me alive. If I stop creating my world shrinks and contracts. When I start to create again it expands and is filled with colour. I feel whole. To create is to be completely, unabashedly alive.

    As I would say….
always a grip from another soul, to take us out of the usual path of development.
I have not the film…one day I will do it… but see that you have taken good care in express the crackling or splitting sense of her pains…the triad of Inferno emerging from the rooting into the deepest. It remembers me James Hillman´s theory about Soul making…Soul always grows into the inside..rooting from heaven to earth….even to the verge of self-anihilation it is needed…and one cannot do it otherways…unless there is a Guardian Angel to see that pathway and can drive our soul with an inner light…and understand the love that Soul is bringing to our Self for the realization. Hards ways….perfectly painted by your sensibility.
    Rosa

  • Oh dear Rosa this is a perfect and deeply insightful description of what is happening to the Black Swan. The crackling or splitting sense of her pains…the triad of inferno emerging from teh rooting into the deepest. I hope you get to see this movie it is indeed very psychologically and emotionally intense film and so beautifully acted by Natalie Portman. Have a lovely weekend and thank you for writing this so beautiful comment.
