I like the cropped version more – from a distance it looks like an abstract and when you close in you realise what it is. The twist and the pleats in the fabric look like a shell. The thing that I find amazing is that the cloth is enough to indicate wealth.

This is a wonderful shot. It shows that shyness has nothing to do with external appearance, and that the Afghani woman does not really consider her face under the burkha hidden. We have so many misconceptions in the Western world.
