Very interesting, the colour and detail is excellent, as other people ask, is she hiding from you or is this a cultural issue?

Her clothing is an exquisite shade of blue. The ‘woman’ is so well hidden anyone could be behind her garb; a man or a woman. It could even be a journalist in her doc martin shoes. Intriguing and beautiful image. Poses a lot of questions.

Excellent shot Antanas! The blue of the burka just pops against the white structure! Fascinating capture of life in Afghanistan today! I do beleive that anyone that has shoes in that country and a bright blue cloth has a lot more than most people. Great social commentary!

I assume the lovely colors and frills and heavy boots = rich.

The pleated fabric is wonderfully folded, a very Egyptian look. And yes, the heavy boots are a surprise and I wondered if it was a man or if as Al Bourassa says, a sign of wealth. But there is an odd sensation to it all, in that—if the feet were not visible, it would appear as a whisp of colored air and texture because the body is so thin and not defined, is there a body inside? You take us to remarkable places, as always, Antanas.

The intensity of lavishness is proportionately contrasted by how tightly wrapped/hidden from view she is, and the starkness of her environment. Then those only attentive eyes visible are that of a curious child! WOW!

Wow brilliant photo.

It’s easy to see that this woman is from an affluent family in Afghanistan. She has very intricate, colourful and clean clothes. Although it saddens me that such subjection still exists in this world but it’s a culture clash I have little understanding of.

I love the symbolism. In her world she feels like no one sees her… she is invisible, she is a part of the background. Only the children notice her.
