Solemn Sunset

Solemn Sunset

My most popular work to date….

This photograph was taken on a gorgeous evening following a pacific storm that rolled through the northwest. The Columbia River, where this was taken, spans out almost five miles at the mouth. During low tide, mudflats expose and reflect the colors of the sunset for gorgeous photographs. This evening was exceptional with the fast moving thunderclouds passing by, lighting up the sky.

Post-processing include HDR, and some dodging to even out the balance of the photo.
I hope you like it!

This is a totally massive shot with perfect exposure and amazing color balance, with a composition that although foilows no particular rules (horizon passes right through the center!!) is very pleasing to the eye. I also like the way the foreground has its own light separating it from the mellow sunset tones, and making it stand out almost as 3-dimensional. The most accomplished photographic artist in the world would be proud to have authored this one. A masterpiece.
