Marooned by Ann Van Breemen

A Nautilus Shell on a Surfers Paradise sand dune at sunrise. I’m fortunate to live just a few minutes away from this beach which is a huge tourist destination on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I didn’t find this shell here. I actually bought it in a souvenir shop, but it makes a wonderful prop for my beach photos.

I am an avid photographer of 60+ and will shoot just about anything, although I’m not so good at moving objects. Anything faster than a snail leaves me for dead. (haha) I do prefer natural landscapes over urban ones but, really, nothing is safe from my lens. I also enjoy turning my failed images, and there are lots, into digital art.

In 2014 I started dabbling in Fractal Art using Apophysis 7x to satisfy my creative urges on the days when I can’t take photos.

This is gorgeous! I’m loving this prop of yours! Beautiful serene feel to this, quiet and warm. Hard to believe the busy vibe of Surfers is close by :))

  • Thanks Lou. It’s my favourite too. I nearly cried when I broke a bit of it, but hubby saved the day with superglue.:)

Love the rule-of-thirds and the absolute simplicity. Beautiful!

  • Thank you Adam. I’ve tried it again since with more clouds in the sky for a more dramatic sunrise but it just doesn’t work as well. In this case I think “Less was definitely more”.:)
