Taken at Currumbin on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, during very high seas. The surfers had the best waves in years. The biggest problem was how to get out to them safely. I noticed all the surfers going out to these particular rocks and looking for a safe place to enter the water. I pointed the lens at this spot and waited. I was rewarded with this monster wave heading toward an unsuspecting surfer.

Canon EOS 40D. Canon EF 28-135mm IS lens.

I am an avid photographer of 60+ and will shoot just about anything, although I’m not so good at moving objects. Anything faster than a snail leaves me for dead. (haha) I do prefer natural landscapes over urban ones but, really, nothing is safe from my lens. I also enjoy turning my failed images, and there are lots, into digital art.

In 2014 I started dabbling in Fractal Art using Apophysis 7x to satisfy my creative urges on the days when I can’t take photos.

fanatastic will e-mail to my surfi mates!

  • Thanks Ryan. Sorry it took so long to reply. I’ve just joined and it’s been a bit hard to keep up with everything while I learn how things are done. I do appreciate tour comment. That’s a great compliment.:)
