I’ve seen the Yellowstone Timber wolves from a distance but to get this closeup I had to go to the West Yellowstone Grizzly and Wolves Discovery Centre. They seemed happy enough in their enclosure and are obviously well looked after, but nothing beats freedom.

Canon EOS 7D. Canon EF 70-300mm lens.

I am an avid photographer of 60+ and will shoot just about anything, although I’m not so good at moving objects. Anything faster than a snail leaves me for dead. (haha) I do prefer natural landscapes over urban ones but, really, nothing is safe from my lens. I also enjoy turning my failed images, and there are lots, into digital art.

In 2014 I started dabbling in Fractal Art using Apophysis 7x to satisfy my creative urges on the days when I can’t take photos.

This is a beautiful portrait of this stunning wolf Ann!!! I also very much appreciate your description of where this was taken. Others try to pass off captive animals as being in the wild. Instant fav!

  • Thank you for the fav, Kent. I’m not a very good liar so I try to stick to the truth as much as possible. (haha)

Wow, great to get a wolf!

  • It was in the West Yellowstone Wolf and Grizzly Centre, Robyn. It was lovely to be able to watch them close up, but I would have preferred to have photographed a wild one. :)

Don’t you just wanna ruffle him up!!? Although he’d probably bite my legs off….:)

  • Yes, and yes. I don’t think he’d be quite as tame as he looks. :)
