Horse race... which "night" shot do you like better?

There are two images of NIGHT TIME at the Mormon Row Barn in Grand Teton National Park:
1) a darker image that evokes night time (image is clickable):

and
2) a lighter one (lower ISO) that appears to be daylight, but the stars are visible (this image is clickable also):

Which do you like better? So far, the darker image is winning based on the number of features, but I’m leaning toward #2 above, the lighter of the two.

Definitely #2 in my opinion. With that much sky in the image, it’s nice to see more of the details in the clouds. That’s how I feel about this…

  • Hi Eivor, thanks for joining the fun with this horserace… it seems #2 is winning! AMR

Lighter one! ( Plus, it’s easier to see, when your eyes are getting older! ;o0)))) Just show both, and then they can have their pick! take care, Linda

This is an interesting question. In the smaller format I like #2, but when each is enlarged I like #1. So, I guess the answer depends on how you intend the images to be used. Sandy

  • Hi seeya, what a COOL way to look at this question! Thanks for your perspective! AMR

number 2 for sure…excellent pic. The clouds add texture to the picture, but the nice part is the clouds are forming a natural arrow or a point that leads your eye to your secondary focus in the picture…..the barn :)

  • Hi James, cool you are picking up on the clouds! They were a nice surprise when I processed shot #2! AMR

I will go with #2, but they are both beautiful in their own way.

I like #2. Cool that you are asking for votes/input. I have often considered the same. Very nice photo, both versions!

i prefer the lighter one also… there’s more detail in the building and clouds… go with your instincts…
